The Wrath of God!
We are in danger when we read this passage, Romans 1.18-32 (NIV). It is so easy to think too highly of ourselves and look down our noses at those that are described here. Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he has sown. Whoever sows to please the flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
I cannot count the number of times people have said to me when I was talking about Jesus Christ, “What about all the people that have never heard of Jesus?” They believe that because some have never heard of Jesus Christ that Jesus cannot be the only way to Heaven. God’s word is so clear.
Romans 1.20-21 (NIV) 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
We must understand that God is not unfair. He knows that thousands have never heard the truth of Jesus Christ. He judges them on what they do know. In creation (what God has made) He has provided all they need to know to acknowledge Him as the great Creator and Judge of all things. Sadly, so many do not pay attention. They are so consumed with their own desires and goals they never acknowledge God.
Romans 1.22-23 ((NIV) Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
Sadly, we continue to this day to create our own idols; position, titles, authority, money, automobiles, homes, sports, celebrities and so much more. We think about anything other than the true God, Creator of all things, and Lover of all people. God is such a gentleman. He never forces Himself upon anyone. The truth is there for all to see. If people do not take note, then He allows them to go their own way.
Romans 1.24-25 (NIV) Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
God gives them up. Judgment involves the removal of divine restraints, both on sinful actions and on consequences. People that do not know Jesus or who fail to acknowledge Him revealed in creation are subject to God’s wrath, Hell. He does not send anyone to Hell. He made Hell for the Devil and all that would follow him. We have all disobeyed God and go our own way. If we do not embrace God through His son, Jesus, or acknowledge Him by what we do know through Creation we are lost to Hell. God wants us to spend eternity with Him, Heaven. He offers it to us through Jesus. Grasp that stronghold now. Be like the thief on the cross. “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” The thief knew that he was helpless to help himself. He called upon the only one that could save him.
Please do not wait. Call upon Him now! “Jesus, remember me in Your kingdom. I no longer want to do things my way, but Yours. Forgive me that I have been so stubborn in insisting on my way. My way has led me to ruin. Save me Jesus!” Now, thank Him. You have been translated from death to life. Please tell someone what has happened to you.
